Cabeza de Atenea. Mármol pentélico. Encontrada en Atenas, cerca de Pnyx. Conocida como la “Athena Pnyx”, esta cabeza gigante fue insertada en una estatua colosal de la época romana (siglo II.). Es una copia de una estatua de Atenea esculpida por Fidias -o uno de sus alumnos-durante el siglo 5 a.C., probablemente después de 430 a.C.

Head of Athena. Pentelic marble. Found in Athens, near the Pnyx. Known as the “Pnyx Athena”, this over life-size head was inserted in a colossal statue of the Roman period (2nd century AD.). It copies an Athena statue sculpted by Pheidias or one of his pupils during the 5th century BC., probably after 430 BC.

Κεφαλή Αθηνάς. Μάρμαρο μεντελικό. Βρέθηκε στην Αθήνα, κοντά στην Πνύκα. Γνωστή, λόγω του χώρου εύρεσής της, ως “η Αθηνά της Πνυκός”, η υπερφυσικού μεγἐθους κεφαλή ήταν ένθετη σε κολοσσικό άγαλμα της Αθηνάς, που είχε κατασκευασθεί τον 5°αι.π.Χ. (μετά το 430 π.Χ.) από τον Φειδία ή κάποιο μαθητή του.
